OPERATIONS

Operations Team

PRESIDENT

President

Sydney Bernstein

Hello, I'm Sydney and I'm a senior pursing a degree in marketing and management. In addition to being a SEE director I also work as an intern for the CFG Bank arena. When I am not working I am hanging out with friends, watching reality TV, or eating out at a new restaurant.

The President is responsible, but is not limited to, the overall coordination of the entire organization. Duties include running weekly Executive Board meetings, arranging an organizational retreat at the beginning of fall semester and acting as a liaison for SEE to the SGA, The Stamp Advisory Board, the SEE Funding Board and the campus community. The President is also in charge of communication and maintaining relationships with SEE alumni. In addition, the President also coordinates the recruitment and interview process for new SEE Directors. It is the responsibility of the SEE President to oversee all decisions made and actions taken by any of the branches of the organization. The President will further be responsible for coordinating the VIP Reception at Art Attack in conjunction with the SEE Membership director. The President is a member of the Operations Team.

VP OF FINANCE

Avery Anderson

Hi! I'm Avery a senior finance major here at UMD. In addition to being a SEE Director, I am also the Vice President of Accountability for the UMD Panhellenic Association. When I'm not working, I'm usually watching sports, hanging out with my roommates, or going to the gym.

The VP of Finance and Operations will be responsible for supervising all financial and budgeting activities as well as monitoring and improving organizational processes relating to all branches of SEE. They will act as a liaison between the SEE Funding Board and SEE Executive Board. They will submit the budget requests detailed in Article V of this Constitution, in conjunction with the SEE Program Coordinator and SEE President, as well as track revenues and expenditures through all SEE accounts. The VP of Finance will also be responsible for all activities related to fundraising, corporate sponsorships, and financial development. For any co-sponsorships with other UMD student organizations/departments, the VP of Finance will be responsible for constructing MOU documents to be signed. The VP of Finance and Operations director is a member of the Operations Team.

FUNDING DIRECTOR

Hi! I'm Mack, and I'm a junior psychology (BS) major with a sociology minor. Aside from SEE, I am involved in Kesem at UMD, BioFIRE, Students for Sensible Drug Policy, and a research lab on-campus. In my free time I love to read, go to concerts, binge shows, and spend time with my friends!

The Funding Director is responsible for acting as the liaison between the SEE Funding Board and the SEE Executive Board. The Funding Director chairs the SEE Funding Board and organizes, facilitates and runs the SEE Funding Board meetings. They also respond to inquiries from organizations seeking co-sponsorship funds and support on an as-needed basis. In addition, the Funding Director will actively seek to develop relationships between SEE and other student organizations at the university. The Funding Director is also a member of the Operations  Team.

Warren Dansou

Hey everyone! I’m Warren, and I’m a senior public health science and biochemistry double majour with minors in human development and French. Outside of being the SEE Membership Director, I’m pretty involved on and off campus as an RA in SCC 1, a dancer on and the secretary of the STEPP team, and involved in FIRE among other involvements. When I’m not working and saving the world one meltdown at a time, I love existing and sleeping.

The Membership Director is responsible for coordinating and recruiting new members to SEE.  This includes coordinating General Interest Meetings at the beginning of each semester (or as deemed appropriate), coordinating communication with alumni, and planning and implementing Incoming Director training. The Membership Director helps members of the SEE Executive Board to effectively supervise the committees and teams for which they are responsible and create an atmosphere for bonding among SEE members. The Membership Director will further be responsible for coordinating the VIP Reception at Art Attack and an end-of-the-year banquet.

Hi! My name is Divija, and I'm a senior double majoring in Marketing and Information Systems. Outside of SEE, I am also a Strategic Design Fellow and a part of Smith's Queer Leadership Accelerator. In my free time, I like to dance (I studied Kuchipudi for 14 years!), fuel my online shopping addiction, and visit new places with friends.

Elia Choi

Hi! I’m Elia, and I’m a junior pursuing a degree in Landscape Architecture. In my free time, I love reading/writing, traveling, watching movies, and hanging out with friends.

The Office Managers are responsible for the maintenance of the SEE office, taking minutes at the SEE Executive Board meetings, coordinating payroll, assisting the SEE President, Program Coordinator and Stamp Manager for Student Programs and managing all daily transactions. The Office Managers are members of the Operations Team.

Jessica Nguyen

Hospitality Director

Hi, my name is Jessica, and I am a junior family science major. In my free time, I am reading romance books, watching fan edits, or perfecting my Spotify playlists.

The Hospitality Director coordinates the hospitality needs for all SEE events including event staff and performer needs, as well as coordinates Motorpool. The Hospitality Director is also responsible for the overall atmosphere in the greenroom setting at SEE events. Lastly, the Hospitality Director must accommodate for talent related parking permits and passes. The Hospitality Director is a member of the Production Team.

Sarah Griffith

Hi, I'm Sarah and I'm a junior pre-medical student, pursuing a dual degree in biology and government, as my passion is healthcare policy and advocacy. Outside of SEE, I am a TA and serve on the Student Health Advisory Committee. In my spare time, I love to explore DC, hang out with friends and bake dessert, specifically ice cream.

The Venue and Technical Director coordinates all technical and mechanical aspects of SEE events (lights, sounds, etc.). In addition, the Venue and Technical Director will be the primary contact for all communication with The Stamp A/V Department and outside technical contractors. The Venue and Technical Director is also responsible for coordinating the venue needs of all SEE events. This includes reserving venues, determining venue set-ups, ordering non-technical equipment and accommodating extra venue needs such as parking permits. They must follow University of Maryland policies to conduct a bidding process when selecting off-campus contractors. The Venue and Technical Director works closely with event programmers to determine needs and make sure all requests are met. They work with various campus departments such as Event and Guest Services, the Department of Transportation Services, Campus Recreation Services and Facilities Management, among others. The Venue and Technical Director is a member of the Production Team.

Yuri Kim

Hi, I'm Yuri and I'm a junior Hearing and Speech Sciences major! When I'm not in the SEE Office, I'm also working at the LCL in LeFrak and as KSA's Cultural Chair. But you'll most likely find me thrifting, scrapbooking, or singing badly at karaoke :)

The Production Operations Director is responsible for production-related admin duties, which include Google Calendar deadline management, onboarding Pro-Team (with Office Managers), Life Safety Plan management, and leading production meetings. In addition, the Production Operations Director creates event timelines, manages the hospitality closet, and provides extra support for production on event days. They lead load-in and load-out day-of events when applicable. The Production Operations Director will organize and schedule crews for all AHOD events alongside the security director. The Production Operations Director is a member of the Production Team.

Alex Atheron

Hi! I'm Alex, a sophomore in the University Honors program pursuing a dual degree in criminology & criminal justice and government & politics. Outside of SEE, I enjoy thrifting, reading, cooking, traveling, and trying new restaurants.

The Security Director coordinates security needs for all SEE events. The Security Director contracts police and police aides, as well as trains and coordinates the ProTeam to provide security for various SEE programs. The Security Director will coordinate trainings, including crowd manager, hearing and public safety. The Security Director is also responsible for conducting meetings with the talent and/or talent’s manager prior to each show to coordinate a security plan unless previous arrangements have been made. The Security Director is responsible for overseeing the safety of all SEE staff, performers and audience members at all SEE events. The Security Director is responsible for the ProTeam and any communication between the ProTeam and the SEE Executive Board. Lastly, the Security Director must create signage plots for events, and keep track of signage inventory. The Security Director will organize and schedule crews for all talent-based or large-scale events in conjunction with The Production Operations Director. The Security Director is a member of the Production Team.

Rebecca Barnholtz

Hi, I'm Rebecca, and I'm a senior pursuing a degree in public policy with minors in arts leadership and nonprofit leadership and social innovation. Outside of being SEE Director, I am involved in my sorority and ODK. In my free time, you can find me exploring DC or College Park with friends, checking out new movies or tv shows, reading a book, attending a concert, or walking around campus.

The Cinema Director is responsible for the overall coordination, conceptualization, programming and management of a diverse range of film showings and film related events including offerings in the Hoff Theater of The Stamp. The Cinema Director is responsible for hosting at least 20 film screenings, or film-related equivalent events, over the course of an academic year. The Cinema Director is a member of the Programmers Team.

COMEDY

Carey Cameron

Hiiiiiiiii! I'm Carey, and I'm a senior majoring in English with a minor in creative writing. Outside of SEE and doing Comedy and Directing, I have a radio show at WMUC, am a part of Writers' House, and am a member of Omicron Delta Kappa. You can find me hanging out with my dogs Lola and Bodi, collecting books I probably won't read, and listening to music written by mentally ill women.

The Comedy Director is responsible for the overall coordination, conceptualization, programming and management of comedy events, including an event during the university’s Homecoming week and student comedy showcases. They will strive to program diverse comedy events in The Stamp, but may also venture to Ritchie Coliseum, Xfinity Center and Maryland Stadium. The Comedy Director is a member of the Programmers Team.

Nathan Steighner

Hi, I'm Nathan and I am a senior studying sociology. Outside of SEE, you can find me at UMD's Legal Aid Office or as a Student Advocate or as a DJ for WMUC. Don't threaten me with a good time.

The Concerts Director is responsible for overall coordination, conceptualization, programming and management of all musical events reaching a wide range of musical tastes which can include, but is not limited to, a fall concert and Battle of the Bands. The Concerts director is responsible for the annual Art Attack concert. The Concerts Director programs in venues such as Ritchie Coliseum, Xfinity Center and Maryland Stadium. The Concerts Director is a member of the Programmers Team.

Helen Wang

Hi! I’m Helen and I am a junior majoring in Economics and Marketing. I currently serve as SEE’s Lectures Director. When I’m not in the office, you can typically find me attending concerts in DC or tinkering around on my film camera.

The Lectures Director is responsible for the overall coordination, conceptualization, programming and management of lectures and speaker-oriented events on campus. They will also strive to provide a wide variety of learning opportunities in The Stamp through engaging and enriching programs. The Lectures Director is a member of the Programmers Team.

Maggie Letvin

Hello! I’m Maggie, a senior triple major in studio art, immersive media design, and art history. I also play rugby, am in the metal heads of Maryland club, and in my spare time I work security at the 9:30 club!

The Performing Arts Director is responsible for the overall coordination, conceptualization, programming and management of live, unique performances that range from theater to dance to poetry with an emphasis on events not covered under the concert, lecture or comedy areas. They will also strive to provide a wide variety of enriching cultural opportunities in The Stamp. The Performing Arts Director is responsible for the annual Drag Show. The Performing Arts Director is jointly responsible, along with the Special Events Director, for the organization, coordination and management of Art Attack Day Events. The Performing Arts Director is a member of the Programmers Team.

Cristin Nolan

Hello! I’m Cristin, and I’m a senior studying communications with a track in public relations. I’m addition to SEE, I hold a social media position in my sorority, Gamma Phi Beta. When I’m not hanging out with my friends or in the SEE office, I like to watch new movies, make Spotify playlists, and go for walks around the lake.

Auzinea Bacon

Hi! I’m Auzinea, a senior journalism and government & politics double major. Outside of SEE, I’m president of the Maryland Association of Black Journalists and editor-in-chief of the Black Explosion, a campus newspaper. I also supervise the Centreville Hall desk and work at the Stamp Front Desk, so I’m a familiar face around campus. When I’m not at work, I’m usually looking for new baking recipes.

The Special Events and Traditions Director(s) is responsible for the overall coordination, conceptualization, programming and management of all non-musical, non-performing arts events.  In addition, they may coordinate SEE contributions to community building events in The Stamp at their discretion. The Special Events and Traditions Director(s) is jointly responsible, along with the Performing Arts Director, for the organization, coordination and management of Art Attack Day Events. The Special Events and Traditions Director(s) is responsible for working in collaboration with the Manager for Student Programs, other SEE Directors, and other Stamp staff members to program events for the campus community to build and maintain Stamp and UMD traditions. These events may include but are not limited to the Stamp All Niter, Terp Carnival and Homecoming Events, and Maryland Day Events in the Stamp. The Special Events and Traditions Director(s) is a member of the Programmers Team.

Somil Varshney

Hi there! I'm Somil, and I'm currently a sophomore pursuing a degree in computer science. Design is a passion of mine, and I'm so glad to be able to explore it at SEE with the incredible events we put on all year round. Apart from being a director, I'm also an Experience Leader for UMD's Alternative Breaks program, a member of the International Student Advisory Board and a student Graphic Design assistant for DOTS. Some things I love to do apart from work include renting a bike and exploring DC, playing sappy songs on the guitar, and playing the occasional Valorant game to remind myself I could always be doing worse.

Gabrielle Hester

Hi! I’m Gabrielle and I’m a sophomore Information Science and Immersive Media Design double major. As my role may suggest, design is super important to me! I am a part of the DCC Honors LLP, and you can find me in a variety of other design roles on campus. When not using Illustrator or Canva, you can also find me in a DC museum, collecting board games, or posting about my dog, Yoshi.

The Design Directors are responsible for designing and ordering all promotional print and digital materials for each event such as flyers, posters and any other materials deemed necessary for the promotion of events. The Design Directors may also be tasked with creating promotional materials for production/other purposes. The  Design Directors are also responsible for researching and developing new advertising formats. The Design Director is also a member of the Promotions Team.  

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Public Relations Director

Elise Bailey

Hello! I'm Elise, and I'm a senior marketing major. In addition to being a SEE director, I also work with Camp Kesem at UMD as a counselor, and I run an Etsy shop. During my free time, I love to play guitar and visit my friends and family.

The Public Relations Director is responsible for coordinating all written and verbal communication between SEE and the general public specifically through news and media outlets. Their  responsibilities include writing press releases, updating information outlets and managing social media accounts.  The Public Relations Director will be the sole SEE contact for mass media outlets. The Public Relations Director works closely with the SEE Advisor for promo to coordinate the Promotions Team. The Public Relations Director is also a member of the Promotions Team.

MULTIMEDIA

Multimedia Director

The Multimedia Director is responsible for generating and curating digital media content including, but not limited to, videography and photography. They are accountable for live recording and photography of the organization’s events, editing of media content, and the creation of videos and other supplemental promotional materials. The Multimedia Director is also responsible for supervising all camera team personnel. The Multimedia Director is a member of the Promotions Team.

MARKETING

Marketing Director

Riley Blaugrund

Hi! My name is Riley, and I am a junior from Los Angeles, California. I am pursuing a dual bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Public Policy, as well as a minor in Religious Studies. In addition to being a SEE Director, I am also a campus tour guide for Maryland Images and an Executive Board member of the community service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. In my free time, you can find me outdoors exploring new places with my friends, engaging in advocacy work, or watching my favorite tv shows.

The Marketing Director is responsible for brainstorming, coordinating and implementing campus-wide marketing campaigns alongside the Promotions Team. The Marketing Director, in coordination with the Promotions Team, may assist in purchases of promotional materials for SEE events. The Marketing Director is responsible for targeting students and student organizations through email marketing, including the newsletter and listserv. They will assist the Public Relations Director in social media promotions, such as ticket giveaways and contests. Lastly, the Marketing Director is jointly responsible, along with the Membership Director, for the organization, coordination and management of General Body Meetings. The Marketing Director is a member of the Promotions Team.

Website & Research Director

Omoleye Adeyemi

Hey friendssssss!!! I'm Omoleye and I'm a senior majoring in Communication on the Media & Digital track, with a minor in Humanities, Health, and Medicine. In addition to being a SEE Director, I am the President of the Senior Council, a tutor in the Oral Communication Center, a member of the Student Alumni Leadership Council, a Co-President of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, a member of the Undergraduate Communication Chair Advisory Board, Front Desk resource specialist in the Student Organization Resource Center, and a scholar in the McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program. Some hobbies of mine include content creation, video editing, painting, exploring museums, and the occasional photography! 

The Website & Research Director is responsible for all research conducted for SEE throughout the year. The Website & Research Director is responsible for providing research for each program proposal made by a SEE Director. They coordinate with other members of the SEE Executive Board, as well as programming boards at other universities, to ensure that meaningful and productive research is completed and used in decision making. The Website & Research director is also accountable for the content of the SEE website, including its accuracy, timeliness and usefulness, in addition to maintaining a digital archive of all SEE events. The Website & Research Director is a member of the Promotions Team.

Laura Hood

Welcome! Hello! I am Laura Hood (she/hers), and I have the pleasure to co-advise Student Entertainment Events. For the past 10 years, I have been a full-time staff member of the Adele H. Stamp Student Union Activities Team where I also plan campus wide programming like Terps After Dark, UMD Homecoming, All Niter, and Maryland Day. I earned a Masters in Higher Education from the University of Delaware-Go Blue Hens- and received my undergraduate Psychology/Minor in fine arts (graphic design) from Arcadia University-Go Knights! When I am not in the SEE Office, you will find me at the closest Starbucks or hitting the pavement around College Park listening to Comedy Podcasts, where I live with my husband (also staff at UMD), 7 yr old daughter, and brand new baby boy - we love all things UMD - Go Terps!

Abby Callas

Hey there! My name's Abby (she/her), and I'm so excited that I get to be the program coordinator for SEE. During my time as an undergraduate student at UMD (where I earned a bachelor's of science in information science), I first participated in SEE as a member of their pro-team, and then later as their venue director in the 2021-2022 academic year. I loved SEE so much that two months after I graduated, I was back! In addition to SEE I have over six years of experience in programming/producing various events, such as musicals, plays, concerts, tech conferences (Technica and Bitcamp!), writing workshops, and more. When I'm not busy planning events for SEE alongside our amazing student directors, you can find me reading a book, playing cozy videogames, or designing a new spreadsheet (I love spreadsheets!).

Hey! I'm Tristen (He/They) the current Graduate Advisor overseeing the Promo team here at SEE. I am currently a first year master's student studying education and student affairs. In my free time, I love to do anything creative, spend time at the gym, organize my Pokemon cards, and go on walks with my dog Akari! Catch me skating through campus excited on the way too much caffeine.
