SEE presents "Stuff White People Like" with author Christian Lander
Camping, Vespa scooters, ugly sweater parties – just to name a few. Want to hear the extensive list of stuff white people like? On Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. author Christian Lander will discuss more about stuff white people like, how he got started on the Web, and his advice for anyone trying to launch their career on the Web. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. at the Hoff Theatre of the Adele H. Stamp Student Union – Center for Campus Life. This event is free and open to all publics. Stuff White People Like is a blog written by Christian Lander, which takes satirical aim at the interests of “white folks”. Created in 2008, Lander’s blog has become popular, with over 300,000 daily hits and over 40 million hits by the end by the end of September 2008. Although the blog has been seen as racist and offensive, it is not about the interests of all white people. Instead, Lander focuses on the stereotype of affluent anti-corporate North American “hipsters”, with a humorous intent. In July of 2008, Landers published his blog posts in a book, which remained on the New York Times Best Sellers list for months.
